TikTok Shop Fees Explained (2026): What Sellers Actually Pay

Ask five sellers what TikTok Shop charges and you will get five different answers. That is not because anyone is lying — TikTok changes its fee structure several times a year, rates differ by country and category, and some "fee guides" quietly mix commission, VAT and payment processing into one number.

This guide lays out each fee the way it actually hits your payout, with the per-sale math worked out. Where sources disagree, we say so — and mark which figure is reported versus officially published.

The 30-second version

Your per-sale cost stack on TikTok Shop is: commission (the big one) + affiliate commission (if creators sell for you) + fulfillment (FBT or your own shipping) + product cost + expected refund cost. Everything left over is your margin. Most sellers who "lose money on TikTok Shop" simply never added up all five.

US fees: commission, and the 8% vs 6% question

For most non-food categories in the US, multiple seller publications report an 8% commission since August 4, 2026. However, TikTok's own public rate table — last revised in May 2026 — still shows 6%. Until TikTok updates its public table, treat 8% as the reported figure and 6% as the last officially published one, and confirm your category's rate in Seller Center.

UK fees: 9% with VAT baked in

The UK has charged a 9% commission since September 2024, VAT-inclusive, with 5% for selected electronics and beauty categories. Two UK-specific costs catch sellers out: a £0.50 shipped-by-seller fee per delivered package (since July 15, 2026) and FBT fees reported around £0.78–£1.80+ per item. A reduced new-seller period exists, but TikTok has not published stable terms for the rate or duration — do not build your pricing on it.

EU fees: 9% since January 2026

Across the EU5 (Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands), the standard rate rose from 5% to 9% on January 8, 2026 (7% for selected electronics and beauty tech). New sellers get 4% for 60 days subject to mission conditions. Remember that EU VAT is added on top at the local rate — 19% in Germany, 20% in France, 22% in Italy, 21% in Spain and the Netherlands — so model VAT separately from commission.

FBT vs shipping it yourself

Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) replaces your per-order shipping cost with a per-item fulfillment fee plus storage. Whether it wins depends on your item size and volume: at roughly $3.58 per small standard item in the US, FBT beats self-ship for most sellers paying $4+ in postage — but storage fees punish slow-moving stock. Run both scenarios in the profit calculator before you commit inventory.

Affiliate commissions: the optional fee that is not optional

You set the rate yourself, anywhere from 0% to 30%, but in practice competitive offers sit at 5–20%, commonly 10–20%. Treat it as a hard per-sale cost: a $25 sale at 8% commission and 15% affiliate rate loses $5.75 to TikTok and the creator before you have paid a cent for the product.

The hidden fee: refunds

Refunds do not just return the customer's money — in the US you also pay a refund administration fee of 20% of the refunded referral fee (capped at $5 per SKU), you eat the outbound shipping, and the affiliate commission is typically clawed back. If 5% of your orders refund, add roughly that 5% × (product cost + shipping) to every sale's expected cost.

Real per-sale math: a $25 product in the US

Sale price$25.00
Commission (8% reported)25 × 8%−$2.00

Change one input — a 15% affiliate rate instead of 10% — and profit drops to $8.25. That is why guessing the rate is expensive and calculating it is free: open the calculator and plug in your own numbers.

Heads up: fee figures above reflect public reporting as of October 5, 2026. TikTok revises fees without much notice — always verify your category's current rate in Seller Center before setting prices.

Frequently asked questions

What percentage does TikTok Shop take from sellers in 2026?

In the US, most non-food categories are reported at 8% commission since August 2026, though TikTok's public rate table (last revised May 2026) still shows 6%. The UK charges 9% VAT-inclusive, and the EU5 charges 9% (7% for selected electronics and beauty tech) since January 2026.

Is there a separate transaction or payment fee on TikTok Shop?

In the US and UK, payment processing is bundled into the referral/commission fee — there is no separate transaction fee for most sellers. Always confirm the current structure in your Seller Center, because TikTok changes fees several times a year.

How much does TikTok Shop FBT (Fulfilled by TikTok) cost?

Reported US FBT fees start around $3.58 per small standard-size item (January 2026 rate card) plus storage fees. UK FBT is reported at roughly £0.78–£1.80+ per item depending on size tier.

What do refunds cost a TikTok Shop seller?

In the US, TikTok charges a refund administration fee of 20% of the refunded referral fee, capped at $5 per SKU. You also lose the original shipping cost and, usually, the affiliate commission is clawed back.

What affiliate commission should I set on TikTok Shop?

Sellers can set 0–30%. Most competitive offers fall between 5% and 20%, commonly 10–20% for creators to take notice. Model it as a direct cost per sale before you launch.

How do I calculate my real profit per TikTok Shop sale?

Profit = sale price − commission − affiliate commission − product cost − shipping/FBT − packaging − ad spend per sale − expected refund cost. Divide by the sale price for your margin percentage, and never price below your break-even point.
